Abajo Gold
This photo is in High Dynamic Range. Taken from Gold King Basin at sunset. Gold King basin is a high alpine basin with mining remnants and spectacular views of the valley around Telluride, the Abajo mountains, and the mountains surrounding Mt. Wilson. It is very rocky, with steep shale faces and is often cold and blustery. Staying their overnight is always a great experience. Makes you feel alive and on top of the world!

Pretty in Pink
Date Taken 8/29/16.
The first trip this summer up into Gold King Basin didn't disappoint. What was thought to be a botched sunset shoot gave us this beautiful Alpen Glow on the back wall of the basin. With the gray of the shale and the transition of tree line, this diagonal composition is really cool to me. Natural light is almost impossible to replicate, especially at this magnitude!Gold King Gold

Another one from Gold King Basin. The beautiful clouds and glowing sun are certainly stare worthy and the purple hue illuminating Ground Hog peak way in the distance buttressed but the shoulder of Wilson, and the rock of the side of the basing add tremendous depth. I think the pond in the foreground bring it all together to illustrate a classic Colorado sunset!Gold Skies
The Milky way, taken from almost 11,000 ft. in Gold King Basin. Jutting out of one of the basin wall with it's galactic orbs and shooting stars, this shot needs little description. There is a lot to be thankful for!

Date Taken 9/4/16
Bolam Pass, probably my favorite camp spot in Colorado! But... I can never seem to produce any great photography from that vantage point. Not sure why, but this shot change that. I finally found the right framing with the right lens to capture the details and lighting to convey some of what I think is so cool about these mountains. I love the big cliff bands towering over rolling knows with a variety of volcanic color spread by eons of runoff!Soft Opportunity
This photo is like a diamond in the rough. On a very short timeframe for a camping trip, we only had 30 minutes of light between morning and evening. Heavy rain before we got there, and just after this was taken. But, the chilly and blustery weather combined with the spectacular colors of early fall and a very long exposure created the beautifully vibrant yet soft image. This is one of my first really successful long exposures on a large landscape.
