One of my first creative, abstract frames of a landscape. Every time at Alta Lakes is special and this time was no different. The reflection from the water, the spectacular smells of pine and the lakes in the air, and the escape from the June heat at lower elevations. Golden Horn Rising
Another shot from Trout Lake. Capturing the moon can be very complicated as you need ambient light to balance out the concentrated light. Golden Horn, the mountain, is one of my favorite for it's various textures and colors, and of course the beautiful blue Colorado sky make this a milestone of mine. Soft and powerful!

Dolores Peak Waning
This is one of my more popular shots of Dolores Peak at Sunset from National Forest above Groundhog Reservoir. It was on a beautiful late summer evening on a quick overnight camping trip. We got lucky again and hit the light just right. This spot definitely warrants a few more visits!

Abajo Gold
This photo is in High Dynamic Range. Taken from Gold King Basin at sunset. Gold King basin is a high alpine basin with mining remnants and spectacular views of the valley around Telluride, the Abajo mountains, and the mountains surrounding Mt. Wilson. It is very rocky, with steep shale faces and is often cold and blustery. Staying their overnight is always a great experience. Makes you feel alive and on top of the world!

Soft Opportunity
This photo is like a diamond in the rough. On a very short timeframe for a camping trip, we only had 30 minutes of light between morning and evening. Heavy rain before we got there, and just after this was taken. But, the chilly and blustery weather combined with the spectacular colors of early fall and a very long exposure created the beautifully vibrant yet soft image. This is one of my first really successful long exposures on a large landscape.

The Last Dollar
An all time favorite of mine from the fall colors this year. Taken on Last Dollar road, it is proof of perseverance. We were surprised to find many other photographers and outdoorsmen searching for the same thing we were, but with some exploration and determination, we captured this shot during Golden Hour, just before locating an awesome camp site on a neighboring, almost abandoned road. Named for the road it was taken on, and in commemoration of the people across time who adventured and explored to find places like this, despite the harsh conditions and rugged terrain.

Alpenglow On Hesperus
It took a combination of all of the right things to get this Panorama right. Standing in icy water taking 7 shots with the right metering at the right time bright together this somewhat unique shot. Hesperus mountain is sacred to the Native Americans in the area, and when you are this close, you can sure tell why!

A light dusting of snow and the morning sun illuminate the flow at the base of the scree field below Mt. Hesperus. The last few trees at timberline hang on for dear life in an area that sees unimaginable movement in the rocks and snow throughout the year.
